"Ooohhhh... okay," Pony nodded, "Well, I just... have this wierd habit. I'm use to petting or cuddling something while I read, watch tv, stuff like that. It was just an... automatic... thing..."

"I see," Adam said, nodding. He glanced back at the book. "You... want to continue? With the book, I mean."

Pony smiled at Adam, "Yeah, I would like to continue." While she and the little bee turned their attention to the book, she couldn't help but think how great it was to have already found a friend who didn't think she was wierd.

Adam read a few scentences, but somehow he ended up looking at Pony a few times. She's really nice, the bee thought. I wonder what she's even doing here. To tell the truth, Pony was one of his first human friends.

Pony had a hard time focusing on the book. She turned her head and saw her bee friend looking at her. She smiled at him. Gosh, he is so cute! I love those adorable little eyes. Pony thought as her smile grew bigger.

Adam quickly (and nervously) turned away, only to look back again. ... Why are we looking at each other? he thought. "So," the said, changing the subject, "Why are you in New York? Visiting family?"

Pony unexpectedly felt her stomach turn into an avery of butterflies (so to speak), "Oh, no... Um, I actually own my own business. I sketch other people's pets and put them on accessories. I... came to New York to really get it going." Why do I have this wierd feeling in my stomach all of a sudden?"I never really been in a big city before and I'm here by myself... It's actually... kind of scary..."

"You'll get used to the life here after a while," Adam said. "And I hope you find a place to live." So that she doesn't have to live on the streets, the bee added mentally. That would be terrible!

"Thanks, Adam. I can just stay at the motel I'm at until I find an apartment that'll accept my baby tortoise and occasional injured animals... I like... to help animals... when.... they're... hurt.... or ... hungry..." Pony smiled at the little bee. It became increasingly hard to talk to him as she gazed into his eyes. He's so sweet... Those eyes... They're so different... Not like human eyes or animal eyes... They're so neat...

Adam smiled back. "I... hope that... you... find..." Suddenly, an idea struck him. She could probably stay with Vanessa! he thought. It's a great idea. "Um... Pony?"

"Yeah?" She snapped somewhat out of her trance, "What is it, sweetie?"

Adam blinked a little. Did she just call me sweetie? he wondered. "... What... er... What hotel are you staying at?"

"The one... a few blocks from the park. It's not far..." Pony replied, He's such a nice little guy... I should make him dinner! Yeah! "Hey, Adam, would you... like to... ummm... would you like me to make you dinner?"

"I don't mind, actually," Adam said. "I have to be back at the hive by the next shift, though." That's really nice of her to offer dinner, the bee thought.

"Okay, no problem!" Pony chirped happily. It took every bit of self-control in order to keep herself from bouncing in joy, "Come on, let's go!"

Bounced off to Midtown!
